PC Station

PC Station is a device which is used to share 1 PC into many client users (multi users). We don't have to buy many PC in 1 office with many computer users or employers. For example there are 10 Employers in 1 office that supposed to work with computer. Normally the company will buy 5 PC (personal computer) for each of the employer. But with PC Station, the company only have to buy 1 PC to fulfill 5 employers need. On this case there will be 1 PC, 6 LCD, 6 keyboards n mouses, 6 PC-Station, and 6 LAN Cables attached to 1 switch hub 8 ports.

Advantages of PC-Station :
  • No noise on each client.
  • 1 system computer controlled.
  • Very low electricity cost.
  • Fast installation.
  • Small and light weight device which can be easily moved and much less space will be used.

Disadvantages of PC-Station :
  • If got bad LAN Cable connection on one of the client, then the client will be stopped and restarted. But there is a chance can login back to the last activity. Because the main server might save the last disconnected client.
  • If the main computer troubled then all clients will stop working and lost current activities.
  • Need huge capacity of UPS (Uninterrupible power suppllies) just in case if got problem with electricity.
  • Need 1 PC with high-end specification as the server.
  • Some Antivirus might cause the clients cannot connect to server.
  • Firewall may need to be turned off in order to client can connect to server.
  • Still need license of softwares each client for legal use such as Microsoft Office.

Printing via LAN Cable :
  1. Put note on IP address of host computer with printer attached. to find out the ip go to control panel, find Local Area Connection, right click on it then select Status. Then u can note down the the ip address (example : 192.168.1.100).
  2. Activate the share on the printer on host computer.  Go to control panel find Printer and Faxes, select the printer u want to share, then right click it select Sharing. And then click Share this Printer press apply. Now the printer is shared and ready to be used on other computer client in same network LAN.
  3. On client computer press start  menu  then  select  Run. Then  type  the  host  IP  address  for  example   \\192.168.1.100\ click ok. It will show new window with list shared folder and printer. Select the printer then right click it, then select Connect. Now wait for couple minutes or less till the printer showed in your Printer and Faxes list.
  4. When it's appeared on Printer and Faxes list and the status is Online, u can start printing now through that client computer.
Troubleshooting :
  • When u try to print but it loads really long, try go to Printer and Faxes and check the status of the printer. If status is online there might be problem with the print spool service. go to Start then select Run type services.msc find Printer Spooler then Restart the process by click the link on left above side.
  • If the printer status on Printer and Faxes appear beside word online, then might be problem with LAN cable or login problem. for the LAN cable problem try repair the connection from Control Panel on Network Connection then right click Local Area Connection select Repair. For login problem go to Start select Run then type again the IP host example \\192.168.1.100\. If it shows fields to add password and username, then add the fields according to the login user and password same with host computer. Then do the Step 2.
